If you are looking
for bed and breakfast in Grasmere then Forest Side is the perfect
choice. Forest Side, a
traditional stately home built by the Earl of Lonsdale in 1853 reflects
the style and seclusion of the era, with a unique elegant interior and magnificent views
over some of the Lake District's most popular hills.![]() The staff make every effort to make Forest Side somewhere to relax, indulge and de-stress. Many of our guests return again and again... Holding a much envied position on the lower slopes of Butter Crag, a short stroll away from the bottom of our sweeping private driveway lies Grasmere, the village that gave Wordsworth his inspiration. From the creative romantic to the serious fell walker, there is a side of Grasmere that everyone can fall in love with. Warning - you may not want to leave! Forest Side is set in 42 acres of landscape and
wooded gardens, which are home to deer, Herdwick sheep and lambs, red squirrels, a badger sett and
of course rabbits. Once inside, you will be greeted by a warm friendly smile, and in cooler weather, an even warmer roaring log fire of which there are four regularly lit. A guest of the long-standing house of Forest Side has the choice of three large lounges to relax, unwind and enjoy a drink, in the company of new friends and old. Our comfortable bar lounge with views of the surrounding fells is the ideal location to sit and enjoy a selection of home cooked foods from our Bistro menu. Sweep up our grand staircase to find a range of rooms from singles to twins to four posters. Alternatively, a short walk back down the drive brings you to Grasmere Lodge, where our self catering accommodation and some standard hotel rooms are to be found. Shelly, Dave and the family welcome you to our pages! |
